I was fortunate to see Hans Zimmer in concert on Friday at Merriweather Post Pavilion, and had really good seats. He’s my favorite composer (with apologies to John Williams, Howard Shore, Trevor Jones, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, Thomas Newman, and even Danny Elfman.).
I didn’t know who Zimmer was until The Lion King, and even remember wondering why Disney would pick him to score it after Alan Menken won awards for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin.
It wasn’t until Gladiator in 2000 did I decide Zimmer was my favorite, as I still play that music routinely, even more than any of the Lord of the Rings soundtracks.
They ended with “Time,” from Inception, one of my favorite tunes lately.
Here’s the setlist, and here are some of my photos and videos.
