The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center this past Saturday unveiled an exhibit, presented at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, which highlights the impact of Asian Americans in Washington D.C.
The Sightlines: Chinatown and Beyond exhibit includes a section on local martial arts instructors, including Ki Whang Kim, my instructor’s instructor. I helped the curator get information for the exhibit, and now Mr. Kim, and my group, the Ki Whang Kim Traditional Martial Arts Association, is on display there.
I was invited to an event on Wednesday and celebrated the exhibit’s unveiling with my instructor, Grandmaster Ray Lee and his wife, Master Roberta Goldberg, and Grandmaster Albert Cheeks.
